We live in a world where half of us will get cancer, but all of us will live with it. No matter how you look at it, we are all impacted by cancer — but at the Cross Cancer Institute, we believe that no one should have to face it alone.
Our community of doctors, nurses, facility staff and volunteers are here to lift our patients up and walk alongside them through every step of their cancer journey. Because we can do more when we do it together.
What was impossible yesterday is possible today.
Nationally, eight per cent of cancer patients participate in clinical trials. At the Cross Cancer Institute, that number is nearly double: 14 per cent. Add to that the quality of our researchers and the data they generate and it’s easy to understand why the Cross Cancer Institute is considered to be a leader in clinical trials research. This research, these trials, have turned days into months and months into years for countless patients, many of whom were out of treatment options. We’re proud of the massive strides we’ve made, but there’s a lot of work left to do, and many more people to care for. Many more lives to save.
With more space, more research, more solutions, we can double our capacity for clinical trials and the number of people we can treat. That means more people can be given a chance when all other options have been exhausted.
Together, we can do much more.
The generosity of our donors has funded research that has fueled advances in patient care. The support we’ve received from donors across the province has given us the ability to do the work we are so deeply devoted to. We’ve paved our way, but we’re not done yet. Future generations are relying on us to keep moving forward, to keep innovating. We’re closer than we’ve ever been before to a cancer-free future, and we get closer each day. Together, we can continue to make massive strides in cancer research and improve the lives of patients and their loved ones.
